I got them at a bait shop, the lady did not know where vendor gets them.

I know almost nothing about minnow identification, but I do know that golden shiner color can be quite variable (body shape too, maybe?). From Peterson's: "Silver in clear and turbid water; gold side and fins in coffee-colored water."Golden Shiner ? they are silver in color, maybe it is the picture.

Looks the same as the golden shiners in my tank. When they mature and breed the fins get red.I know almost nothing about minnow identification, but I do know that golden shiner color can be quite variable (body shape too, maybe?). I have an algae scrubber and I collect algae from it and give them some,
they sure do enjoy it.
They were very timid and shy at first when I got them, now thay act fine.
They are a good shoal fish.
Thanks again.

Be careful when adding fish from a bait shop into your aquarium. Can't imagine a better way to introduce parasites.
