I had some Ludwigia repens that I got out of a local pond. It grew very fast and full until it hit the surface and melted within a couple of days. I now have a few tiny stunted stems of it, but that is all.
This was about the time I stopped using flourish excel, because I read about adverse effects it has on some plants.

Do not know enough of the story to blame anything, but Flourish Excel is something I used regularly and gave up for that reason. My Vals and Elodea started melting then as soon as I stopped using it everything recovered.

Give it time. I bet it will recover.

I use excel regularly with my Ludwigia, I found that I needed to keep adding trace elements as well to keep it healthy and growing. When I contacted Seachem about what other plants Excel would kill other than anacharis, they didn't really have an answer. However my experience has shown vals melt with it too.
