Job Announcement: NOAA Great Lakes Habitat Restoration Program Coordinator
Location: NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab, Ann Arbor, MI


The NOAA Restoration Center (RC), located in the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), is seeking a Program Coordinator for NOAA's Great Lakes Habitat Restoration Program (GLHRP). The GLHRP is a newly established program that has responsibility for the protection, restoration, and research of Great Lakes coastal habitats through recovery of damages from natural resource damage claims and through community-based restoration efforts.

The duty station for the position will be Ann Arbor, MI and will be located at NOAA's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory in Ann Arbor. The incumbent of this position reports to the Restoration Center Northeast Regional Supervisor and will be responsible for the management, planning, and coordination of NOAA's Great Lakes Habitat Restoration Program activities. The Program Coordinator for the GLHRP also represents the program to participating Line Offices and NOAA senior management as necessary to assist with the development and implementation of the program. Specific duties of the position at the band III level will include: (i) Great Lakes Habitat Restoration Program implementation; (ii) developing recommendations for funding habitat restoration projects; (iii) providing oversight of restoration projects; (iv) contract development, selection and oversight; (v) preparing periodic reports for the participating Line Offices and NOAA senior management on GLHRP accomplishments, finances and performance measures; and (vi) developing and maintaining a strategy for communication and outreach and oversight of outreach activities within the Great Lakes watershed. At the Band IV level, additional duties of the position will include; (vii) program policy development; (viii) budget formulation and management of program funds; (ix) oversight of GLHRP legislative and congressional activities (hearings, events, inquiries and
briefings) that are directly related to habitat restoration; and (x) development of strategic partnerships with other agencies and organizations.
