this fish was prob one that came from south west Virginia. i believe its a rainbow. he was just very small when i caught him

Looks like a Rainbow. Is there orange color on the anal fin?

Rainbows should be the only Oligocephalus species in Virginia. All the similar-looking species are further west or south.

i added another male to my tank and this same darter pictured above turned very dark. teh pic does no justice...he has been dark since yesterday
