I'm looking for any native fish enthusiasts in Texas who might like to go collecting with me?
I live in the Rio Grande Valley. Would especially like to explore the Five Points area west of Corpus Christi and the Mathis Lake and Choke Canyon Lake areas? I only keep native fishes and aquatic plants. Have recently gotten back into the hobby after many years.
Have collected and kept species of Sagitarria, Echinodorus, Eleocharis, Potamogeton and Najas in outdoor tubs for a number of years but have just recently set up several aquariums.

Sorry, forgot to say that I want to start keeping native fishes as well as aquatic plants.
Right now I have a 45 gallon tank with beautiful Mexican Tetras Astyanax mexicanus and a 75 gal
with native plants but plan to move some of the plants to a 55 gal and use the 75 for fish.

Nah!
San Antonio here. I'm a tropical fishkeeper who was playing in the Guadalupe River over the previous weekend and started thinking about a "native" tank. Just started doing research this weekend. No where near ready to start collecting - and need to find a craigslist tank on the cheap (I'm married!) but I'm in the South Texas area and will likely be ready to start collecting at about the same time the temps hit the high 90s
Just wanted to say hey.

Im up in North Texas but am looking at making a trip(s) south this summer to the Sabine River for some natives. I will also be collecting around North Texas on my weekends this summer. If you are ever interested in coming north for a weekend let me know. It would be fun to go out collecting with someone who knows more of what they are doing.
