I have a truly obscure question for people on the Forum. Has anyone had any experience, or heard of any experience, with trematode (monogenean) gill parasites of darters? Such as have been described are in the genus Aethycteron, and that's not very many; the only that has any information at all lately is A. moorei found on rainbow darters. Suriano and Beverley-Burton published a review in 1986, and that seems to be the extent of recent literature that I could find. Thanks for any information or thoughts.

I haven't looked up this species, but Hoffman's parasite book has a systematic listing of parasite records by host species, might be worth looking into if it is available at a local library...they used to be pretty cheap online, but now run 40-125 bucks:

Yeah, that's the one good reference out & about. I stumbled on my copy through Hamilton's surplus book catalog for $12 a couple of years ago. I've been reminded by Andrew Acropora that there's another genus of monogenean trematodes for those on percids, but I'm unclear on current opinions on this taxonomy. I'll have to ask Don Cloutman at Bemidji State for his opinion.
