I caught this minnow in central Kentucky, it was caught in a shallow pool

Looks like a Mosquitofish (Gambusa affinis). These fish have a high tolerance to low oxygen levels and are commonly found in pools.

I call 'em pikeminnows 'cause that's about all they're good for. I concur Gambusia affinis.
