Hi all,

I've confused myself looking at too many species ID pics. Is this a banded or bluespotted, I was leaning towards babnded. It is froma swampy / flood plain area in North Attleboro MA, 02763. The first two pictures are of the smae fish and possibly bluespoted. The 3rd is of what I consider 100% banded. Any contribution of a guess in much appreiciated!

bandeds. that all we have. and jola you never messaged me back. ive found over 7 locations with bandeds now.

here are some of my bandeds...and ill post some of my bluespots that i caught monday

although i have one that is very dark and still showing his blue. but he is very shy still.

Banded (obesus): iridescent marks under and behind eye are long dashes, may form a nearly continuous line.
Bluespot (gloriosus): iridescent marks under and behind eye are dots or very short dashes, not in a line.
This character seems to work well for live or freshly killed fish. Not useful for old preserved fish, which most scientific ID keys are based on.
