I haven't come across anyone in my area while browsing the site, but I still thought I'd post a list of some of the more interesting (at least in my opinion) aquatic creatures I'm come across in my area:

Rainbow darter, Etheostoma cauruleum
Johnny darter, Ethiostoma nigrum
Western banded killifish, Fundulus diaphanus menona
Brook stickleback, Culaea inconstans
Northern crayfish, Orconectes virilis
Calico/papershell crayfish, Orconectes immunis
Pointed campeloma snail, Campeloma decisum

Still on the lookout for those central mudminnows (Umbra limi) that were so ubiquitous in the ditches of my childhood, but this list only constitutes the sampling of one river, a large urban ditch, a rural creek, and two smaller lakes.

Oops, forgot the elsewhere!

In Mecosta county, I also dipped tadpole madtom (Noturus Gyrinus), warmouth (Lepomis gulosus), and mudpuppy (Necturus maculosus). The pointed campeloma I found in a small sinkhole lake out that way had very orange feet compared to those around here.

I'd be interested in going sampling with you in the future!
