Well, are they? Are sunfish known jumpers?

Not usually, Micropterus species will jump and I have seen Greens jump usually after food, but for the most part they are not real prone to jumping.

Any kept at high densities and subjected to startling. Make so light level changes are slow, especially at low light levels. Greens and especially warmouth are trainable to jump for eats such as live crickets. I have also had very large male bluegill launch themselves free of water at my and others faces in an effort to protect their nest. Larvae of some coppernose bluegill are also very prone to jump.

I keep my Enneacathus in an open top tank and have lost none to jumping
