It is a notable upgrade so it will definitely be worth getting - this is a very practical collecting guide and this upgrade doesn't disappoint!

Please post a note here when the new FL Collecting Guide is really truly available.
I know some folks have been waiting a long time for this.

Based on a recent conversation, it appears that both the update and full version of the FL Collecting Guide will be available by the end of May. An official announcement should be coming soon but I asked and was told I could pass this estimate along to the forum.

Hi Mike:
The update to the 4th. edition is ready to ship. Please send $20, check or MO to:
Charlie Nunziata
6530 Burning Tree Drive
Seminole, FL. 33777
Or pay via PayPal to: epiplaty@tampabay.rr.com
The publication is sent via media mail, and will take approximately 2 weeks to reach you.
I will be sending in profit donations to Tom every month or two. At this point, we should be able to donate $5 for each new book, and $2 for each update. I expect that over the next few years we will generate a bit under $1,000 for the general fund.
Thanks,
Charlie

I was able to flip through a copy of the FL Collecting Guide this evening and it is a notable improvement from past editions. In addition to a big expansion of material, the quality of the material is better. It is still in a very handy notebook style format, but the pages are now ready for the field. I hope to get my own copy on Saturday and spend a lot more time sorting through the information.

Long time lurker, guess it's about time I added a little something to the 'stew pot' here.
For reasons that are too arcane and political to go into on this site, Florida, sadly, doesn't have a 'Fishes Of...' book out there as so many other states enjoy. It's a crying shame, but a fact. This collecting guide is the closest thing to it, and in many ways, excels what a more scholarly work might entail for the typical NANFA collector passing through Florida, or simply someone interested in what swims around here. It comes complete with wonderful, accurate photos of every fish, along with exact GPS references for location, cross referenced by species. Doesn't get much easier to locate and collect the interesting freshwater fishes of Florida. It boasts much more, as well, including write ups on some of the many invasive species, and a section on commonly observed aquatic vegetation as well.
In short, this is a GREAT book to own and read for just about any NANFA member, but especially if you are planning to do a little collecting/fishing/filming in Florida waters.
