So I went with a friend to Hopatcong State Park... I didn't plan on keeping any fish (and in the end I resisted the urge to bring them all home), but I did want to practice catching stream fish. We waded up and down the Muscenetcong river and then Lake Hopatcong... here's what we found
Banded Killifish were abundant in the Muscenetcong river, they breed in a stagnant, algae filled concrete channel connected to the river
Crayfish were everywhere as well... colors varied considerably
There was this dead Pike/Muskie at the shores of Lake Hopatcong... actually there were alot of dead fish in varying states of decay... from freshly dead to piles of fish bones
I found this wedged between stones in the middle of the river
