Read this because I really enjoy the Michigan UP. I did no "pre-read" intel like I usually do. I just read the opening and got sucked in; finished it before I realized it. Later I did look into the story more and learned much. I may read the rest it's attached to, I may not. In my mind it's still a "stand alone" piece. That's how I like it. Maybe doing Hemingway an injustice, but such is the arrogant luxury of the unnecessarily educated...

So, for the curious, here is a really neat Hemingway story, in which fish figure largely.

I read this a few years back in an English tank. This short story is one of my favorites, I'm glad it popped up here.
