Boat ramps have been reliable locations for me to catch them as well. Water is so shallow backs can be out of water even when male is in depression of nest. They nest in similar locations in the flood plain which I think is closer to the natural.

This has been an interesting read. O-spots are on my list of fish I wish to have someday. Inquiring minds want to know, any update? How fast are they growing?

Fish in ponds pushing 1". Early growth comparable to Bluegill although slow down should happen very soon. We will be watching very closely for breeding activity of age-0 fish.

I am confused on one thing, are these the hybrids or pure O.S? Either way..cool! OS or Blackbanded are on my must have list. Here in Michigan, I have heard we have a very geographically limited population of OS in the far S.E part of the lower peninsula(south of Detroit), so thats more likely then blackbanded, as my experience with having fish shipped has been kind of negative(if someone can come up with a reasonable secure way to keep fish alive in shipping....please let me know who that person is!)
