The livebearer appears to be a melanistic gambusia and the sole/flatfish looks like a hogchoker.

Thanks. Never have seen a melanistic gambusia before, but we caught about five today.

We did a little saltwater collecting on Folly Beach near the pier. Any ideas on this little guy? We caught hundreds of these.Charleston_+South+Carolina+_97_.JPG

I believe this is a Northern Kingfish, due primarily to the coloration on his back.Charleston_+South+Carolina+_136_.JPG

Very cool! Looks like Charleston was far from being a bust! We'll get to HHI one of these days, but I'd've been tickled pink to catch all that. Especially the Hogchoker; those dudes are among a few fish that I want to see that just seem immune to my hopes for netting them. I think you've posted about getting them before, too. Are there any commonalities to the spots you have gotten them or the procedure you used? The salts seem to have been taken after dark, is that right? Gorgeous Bluefins, BTW.

Haha thanks Matt. We caught about five Hogchokers, all in the same area. I can draw you a map if you need of the location. Just look for sandy spots. Then again, this is my third time to the same location and the only time I have found Hogchokers there. The saltwater fish were taken at dark.

Ran into a few more creeks today and did well during low tide. Getting past the smell of the mud and muck was the worst part. We found these along with an unknown.IMG_0157.JPG
