I'm currently visiting some family in Milton, FL (near Pensacola) and I have a few hours tomorrow that I'd like to use to catch some fish. Anyone know of any locations I could go to sample (preferably within a half hour drive)? Thanks in advance

Within a half hour? Hmmm, that eliminates most everywhere I've personally been. And I can't find my DeLorme with notes.

But ...I recall reports on

* Pond Creek - location unknown, but I googled Mayo Park @ Caroline St, which looks to have easy access, and

* Carpenters Park off Blackwater River.

If you had time to go further, I'd recommend:

* head up highway 29 north of Pensacola, hit some of the crossing creeks, such as Pine Barren Creek, Canoe Creek, Pritchell Mill Branch. Some electric blue Pteronotropis hypselopterus there, and others.

and/or

* a bit east of Jay, on highway 4, there's "roadside park" on the West Fork Big Coldwater Creek. One of the relatively few places I've seen that has both Pt. signipinnis (see my icon) and Pt. hypselopterus.

Russetfin topminnow (Fundulus escambiae) is another fish from this area that is well worth seeking out.

Good luck and have fun.

Carpenter park was a great suggestion. It was 5 minutes away and I was able to catch the following:

Golden Topminnow
Lined Topminnow
Russetfin Topminnow
Least Killifish
Bluespotted sunfish
Swamp darter (not 100% sure on this one)
Mosquitofish
