I recently bought a grown trio of zoogoneticus tequila at the local fish club acution. They're all doing great.

The issue is that once I got home, I realized that one female (the friendliest and boldest one) has a crooked mouth. It slants down to one side, but obviously has not prevented her from living a healthy life. I THINK she hatched out like this versus suffering an injury, but I honestly don't know.

I was going to let them produce in a colony tank and give away/sell the excess.

Is it a bad idea to let the female breed? I wouldn't euthanize her, but I guess I could put her in a separate tank.

Thoughts? I've attached a few photos; they're the best I can do.

Thank you.

It might be a non-genetic developmental glitch, or from an injury, both of which are common.  I'd let her breed, and evaluate the fry.  There's a good chance that it's NOT a genetic problem.

Thank you so much for the input. I appreciate it. I figured that a local hobbyist wouldn't be selling her as part of a trio had it been a genetic trait.

If she can eat and function just fine, I see no reason to not let her breed. It's probably not genetic.
