Overfeeding kills fish. We all know this. My darter loves bloodworms and tiny redworm bits but dislikes Mysis shrimp and flake, my sunfish likes bloodworms and will begrudgingly eat Mysis shrimp, but bloodworms alone, aren't enough for a 3.5" sunfish, my spotfins like the red flakes, but not the green flakes, my bluntnose eat everything, my sunfish loves crickets as do the spotfins, but dislikes red and earthworms. Is there a magical unicorn that exists? Is there a food that *everyone* likes? This is why I keep 3 crayfish in a 16 gallon tank. The clean-up crew.

Thanks.

Freeze dried Daphina sp, freeze dried krill and Otohime feed are best I can think of for planktivores and omnivores.

And then there is the live water flea culture supplemented with a feed prior to introduction to tank of fishes that are to eat them.

Everyone loves live blackworms in my tank.  Bloodworms are next.  My minnows, shiners and dace seem to eat my spirulina (veggie) flakes and my blackworm/bloodworm flakes except for my river chub.  My minnows, shiners, dace, river chub, and greenside darters (and sometimes the tessellated darters) eat Vibra Bites.  Frozen brine shrimp doesn't go over well in my tank.  I have frozen mysis, and haven't tried them.  I also have canned bloodworms but have yet to try them (but got a tip that all of these fish love them).  In my last video, I discussed how I feed my fish.

I try to get my minnows, dace and shiners full before attempting to target feed my darters with a baster (although all of the fish attack that food too), so that my darters have a chance to eat.  If I see that any of the darters are skinny or extra hungry, I try to get them the most food that day.

I over feed like a Grandpa spoiling his grandchildren.  My tank is over stocked, and my plants are now growing like crazy.  I do water changes and clean my canister filter, but not as often as I should.  I'm a bad grandparent that loves his fish and tank.

They say that if you put food in the tank, that your fish should eat it all in 5 minutes. If I put all of that food in at the same time, it would all be gone in five minutes.  My fish are pigs.

I buy several bags of flakes from Ken's Fish and mix them up.  I usually buy Bloodworm, Blackworm, Veggie, and anything else that sounds like something my fish might eat.  I've found the majority of darter and shiners like Bug Bites.
