Caught this today, thought was a baby Brookie but I'm seeing pics of baby Brownies on the internet that look like this too.  I can't seem to find a definitive ID to distinguish these as juveniles.  What say y'all?

Also, bonus ID: This fish was left for dead at a spot I was fishing at the Basher Kill.  Figure a small American Shad, but seems oddly colored at the top, maybe because it's dead?

Thanks bros

save your ID energy dudes.  After re-examinations this morning...tis a juvenile Brookster.  Vermiculations on top, and adipose fin isn't red.

Looks like a gizzard shad. Must have seen a net and died.

thanks Fleendar, forgot about the old Gizzy.  Add another to the list of fish that I can fail to catch out there, sweet

You are welcome, Fishy.

I caught a gizzard shad and it lived long enough to stay in the tank for about 3 hours. Extremely fragile fish!
