Hi All,

My name is Rob and I currently live in the Houston area. Over the last 5 years, I have been exploring the miles and miles of water throughout East Texas. I fly fish and fish with conventional gear. I am very interested in the Lepomis genus. I think East Texas has an amazing array of panfish, and I have enjoyed catching them and attempting to make positive ID's. I don't keep any of them for aquariums, I just simply enjoy observing them and angling for them. I hope to learn more about native fish species from the wealth of knowledge that exists in this forum.

Thanks

Welcome Rob.  Exploring is a great hobby.  Exploring fishes of your local area is exactly what we should be all about.  You don't have to keep them in aquariums to enjoy them.  But you should get a camera so we can have fun with you!

Thanks Michael! I do indeed have a camera. I also have some questions for the community! I'll post them in the other threads. Thanks

Welcome.

Your post is ideal timing for me. I plan on being in the Houston area (specifically Katy, TX) this fall for a few days. Been scouting out a few areas but very interested if you know of some good spots for multispecies angling, including micro species.

Will send you a PM as well.
