I have always been fascinated by eels, we used to accidentally catch them fishing. I have a sunfish tank with blue gill and warmouth. If I get an american eel, 10 inches or so from a bait shop, what are the chances he will eat his tankmates. My fish are all about 5 inches, except for one small warmouth. I hear they bite and go into an alligator death roll, but I'm not sure if they try that with fish that large. Thanks for your info.

I found an eel, years ago in the mud on the bank of a pond in a mud ball, it was winter time. I put it in a 40 gal tank I had( and still have) it ate feeders, and eventually crawled out, much to the glee of my cat. keep your lid on tight.

I was keeping a foot long eel with some 3 inch sunfish and never saw more than the occasional warning nip as the eel tried to defend his cave.
