So, last months Southeast Wisconsin NANFA Regional Meeting went great. But to tell you the truth, you should have come to it.

I have a great native display tank that's truly amazing and I was hoping to show it more to people than just Brian. Did I mention that it's 150 gallons? Yeah, it’s a great tank.

Well, Brain and I brainstormed about more was to get people to come to the meetings and this is on the list so I’m going to cross it off.

What I’m tying to get across is that nobody is attending the meetings and I’m asking why aren’t you coming.

So, why aren’t you coming to the meetings? We know you are on this site and know about the club so why don’t you come?

Please let us know why you aren’t coming to the meetings.

Thanks,
-Corban

Corban, if you're a NANFA member you should update your profile to reflect your proud membership!

Sounds like a good plan! Especially if you attend NANFA regional meetings.

Now, as to your original question,

Why don't the rest of youse guys show up for the meetings?

There was an September meeting?

Actually, for me, Grafton is just far enough to be a pain to travel. 60+ miles, one way, plus having to negotiate the Marquette interchange construction. And, I have two teenagers, so weekends tend to be quite busy. (And a week night would be even harder to get to.)

I know that there are quite a few Wisconsinites on the forum and in NANFA, but I do not know if there are enough to support much of a crowd at a "dry" meeting. Events will probably draw a bigger crowd. The Discovery pier thing was well attended. A Spring/Summer collecting trip and/or picnic might draw some in. The Wisconsin killie organization has a yearly daytrip that we might be able to hook in with. (I disremember that group's name. BTdarters has a link to them from his web site.)

Later edit: There WAS a September meeting! I cannot believe it, I completely missed the announcement post.

Are you having an October meeting? I will be in Northeastern Illinois from October 20th-27th. I would love to go...otherwise, I'm in Ohio.

Nate,

Yes, we plan to have an October meeting. I've just (two minutes ago) emailed Corban about the date we want to have the meeting on. I suggested the 20th. If you can come on the 20th, that would be great! When I hear back from Corban, we'll set something in stone. Our location will either be the Port Washington area or the Pewaukee area, depending on what we come up with. If you could post which location would work better for you, that would be great! Also as a future FYI, at the November meeting, our speaker will be John Lyons of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. If that name sounds familiar, it's because he has authored at least one article in American Currents that I know of. He will be speaking on the diversity of Wisconsin's fish species. It should be a great time for all!

Hmm...I'm going to be in Kenosha on the 20th. I'll be Salmon fishing in the Pike River. I'll be with other people, maybe I can convince them to come to the meeting too, make members out of them.

Sounds great, Nate! I have yet to hear back from Corban, but I'll post as soon as we are sure of the date.
