I got a new seine (4'x8") made by Douglas.

I attached it to brails, that I thought up, I found out after looking here I see Irate already came up with what I call "Super Brails". Irate's brail design

The sticker on the "Super Brails".

The bottom of the "Super Brails", eyehooks screwed into wood under metal collar thingy.

My "Comfort Grip" handles (self fusing Electrical tape stuff)

I'd say you're ready for some serious seining, those brails shouldn't fail unless you're sampling a tsunami.

Ohio doesn't get tsunamis so I should be good. I need to make another set for my 4 footer, but @ $25 for a pair, I'll have to wait till next payday.

They ain't cheap, that's a fact. But you can use the same brails for multiple seines (just clip 'em on and off).

I'm looking at having a bag seine made to replace one of the seines I lost earlier this year. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Worth it?? I figure to dye the bag a dark color and leave the rest of the seine white - the idea being to herd fishes into the bag - trick them into thinking they have found an escape route, as it were.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
Price is not bad considering they should last a good many years.
how do you "just clip 'em on and off"?

Use some of those small caribeaners (sp) that they sell for key chains and stuff. clip on to each eyelet on the poles (you would need 4) or one to each corner of your two seines (you need 8 for this).

should find them at most convienience stores, Home depto by the register, etc. Usually $1-2 each. The only drawback would be that you could only use one siene at a time.

no doubt, was just thinking if you were ever lucky enough to get a group together you couldn't use them both at once. I just bought a couple broomsticks and drilled some holes for mine and tied the net to it directly, the way you did yours will definatley stand the test of time though, nice work.

Any time I go with anyone I will only really use the 8' but alone I normally can only manage to use the 4'

I found the caribeeners at HD 99¢ got 4 black and 4 orange this way I can quickly identify the seine I want to use by color.
