That is correct, I only deal with Grass Pickerel. I don't know how many there will be but probably 100 or more... I'll be checking on them again this weekend.

Economy of scale -- nice. I was wondering how you could offer them for $10/each. Sell 100 at that price, and that's a nice little sum (and a *bunch* of happy NANFA members!)

I want 3 for my 125, but I have a friend that has a 37 he wants to put one in and a 55 he is going to set up and move it into when it grows a little bigger. Do you think he could manage one in his 37?

It would probably be fine.

You raise them in a pond, I assume? Do grass pickerel eat their own young if they get the chance? I'd find it hard to believe that they wouldn't...

You bet pickerel eat their own young. I will test you that I have first hand knowledge that a 4 inche pickerel can eat a 2 inch pickerel!

I figured as much. Brian, how do you prevent that -- or is that a trade secret? :)

bump for an update, really excited about these, ive got a 90 gallon aquarium with nothing but feeder minnow's tadpoles, and 1/2-1" crayfish in it, i plan on taking VERY good care of what i can afford, sadly i wish i could afford 5-6 of them, but 3 will be enough :) id love to get them to spawn for me when they become mature.

yes they will definately eat their own young given the chance. We are experienceing some rather cool weather witch may slow down their growth but the long range forcast looks like warmer weather. They are in a man made swamp about 1/4 an acre, I know they eat each other but it is larger enough to support a more or less natural population.

So when do you start taking pre-orders? How big will these guys be when you ship them?

After *months* of no success, my gambusia feeder program is going a little nutty: http://forum.nanfa.o...h...ost&p=38494 . I need a piscivore quick!

i have debated for a while now what cold water friends i should get to go in with my pickerel, and i havent really found anything that got me too excited until yesterday, when i ran across 3 sturgeon for sale at the LFS ...

I KNOW, I KNOW, they get HUGE ... but for the time being, until it gets too big (and has to go into my friends pond) would there be any problems with him as a tankmates for the 2-3 pickerel i plan on getting from you?
they are about 4" long now, and they are constantly swimming, but not overly aggressive
the tank will be a 75 (for now), just the 2-3 GP and 1 sturgeon, gravel, driftwood, and floating plantcover. my filter will be on a moderate current, and i will have 3-4 airstones in it to keep the O2 high for the sturgeon ...

would this be an ok tank setup ??

I checked on them yesterday and they are still awfully small, I'd say it will be 2 weeks of warmer weather.

How many of these do you have to sell? I have been looking for these for ever and I couldn't find them anywhere. Do you think I could get about 2 or 3 of them? Please get in touch with me. Thanks so much.

I'll probably be ordering one too. I actually saw like 9 young 1-3" pickerels but didnt manage to catch any of them.

About 1.5-2 inches, just big enough to eat small guppies.

this is very true, once they make the switch from inverts to fish as their food source they take off and can reach full size if kept very well fed in less than a year.

I was just wondering if i might be able to meet you somewhere to pick up about 3 of them personally. I am from Cambridge and i didn't know how far away from zanesville you were but if you don't want to meet me there i might be able to come all the way over and pick them up.
