hmmm...teleost...are you talking about the dorsal stripe on the dorsal fin itself or ahead of the dorsal fin on the bump of the head?...most of the longears I get are about 5" max...I would love to get some around 7" and with more of a rounded shape...

I'm talking about the stripe on the nape or the part between the dorsal fin and head.

The big shiner is chrysocephalus for sure, and I'm going with F. notatus on the topminnow based on the appearance olivaceous in Mississippi.
My first thought on the first picture was boops, based purely on the size of the eye, but I dont' have my Peterson's handy (it's in my truck where it needs to be) and I'm not all that familiar with MO fishes.

Those topminnows are one of my Favs...though small...they have unique personalities that make them responsive and intelligent.

I should explain that I'm just guessing its olivaceus based on my experience in southern Illinois fish. I've never sampled fish in your area. This may sound silly but I'm guessing on body shape alone. I think olivaceous seem to be skinny when young compared to notatus.
