Anyone have anywhere in particular where I might find some grass picks to catch on hook and line in NW Ohio? I'm in Tiffin, never been able to find anything of the Pike family around here. I'm figuring grass pickerel spots wouldn't be as "secret" as spots for larger members of the family. Any help would be much appreciated. BTW, catch and release of course ;) .

i have no idea where but i wanted to say its just the opposite on this site...the grass/redfins would be more of a secret than the chains and northern pikes lol.

Wow how can i possibly run into someone from Tiffin on here? Whats your name? btw I caught my first Northern today, 19" in the Sandusky on a 1/8 Mepps Black Fury while fishing for smallies. What an awesome suprise. Wolf Creek as in the one that runs into the sandusky at that park between here and Fremont? Wolf Creek Park or whatever? Also where at in that creek would be a good place to start? Probably a PM or AIM star5328 would be best. Thanks so much.

star5328,

I'm not from Ohio, but would like to welcome you to the forum. I hope you find your stay both enjoyable and informative!

I spent 6 years in NW Ohio between tiffin (while at Heidelberg) and BG (was there for my masters). The best places for Grass pickerel I found out in that area would be the outlet of Springville Marsh (goes into the Blanchard near Findlay) then second choice would be Muddy Creek, third would be Muskellunge Creek. The latter two also have N. Pike worth fishing for in them especially in early spring.

Also I can't see Springville Marsh pouring into the Blanchard anywhere, atleast on google earth. Unless you mean that branch of the Blanchard that breaks off northeast of the reservoirs?
