I used a 10 gallon aquarium topper in order to create a kind of forest pond theme. This way, I could have 10 gallons of water, but still have enough room for frogs.
Inhabitants include:
2 Gray Treefrogs
2 Wood Frogs
1 Peninsular Newt
4 Fathead minnows
2 Ghost Shrimp
3 Green Frog Tadpoles

I'm hoping to get rid of a couple fatheads in the summer and get some northern redbellied daces for it.
Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures

Wood Frogs are not aquatic and won't live well in that setup. They should be kept the same way as toads are kept as both only go to the water to breed in the spring and then spend the year hopping around the forest floor.

I realize that. These wood frogs just became frogs, so i'm keeping them near water until they are a little bit bigger and can go into a different setup. And they have land to sit on. I'm not making them stay in the water the whole time.

Well in that case your setup is a very cool idea.

I might have to try this now. How will you clean the tank?

It's actually quite easy. The topper is only attached by two hooks on each end attached to springs, so I just take the whole top off, wipe the plants off, and use a siphon to clean the gravel. It's also very easy to do water changes. The frogs really have no interest in leaving, so they just sit there watching me clean it.

Thank you. I was really bored one day, so I was looking through my magazines when I saw the aquarium topper and I had been trying to decide what I was going to do with my 10 gallon since all I had was my newt, and the idea just came to me. Aquarium/terrarium interior designing is something i'm pretty good at and I love doing it.

Any suggestions to what else I could add would be really appreciated. I don't know what fish to put in it. The fatheads are really just to eat leftovers, and could be removed(I have some fish who always appreciate live food)

This is really a neat setup. Keep it going! Would be awesome to make a live semi-aquatic terrarium.

Just one of those filters that hooks up to an air pump. It's the blue thing in the left corner.

I thought about that, but I have plenty of smaller ambush predators and I would like some active schooling fish in there. I'll probably still end up adding a small mudminnow in the summer though

This setup seems similar to a Paludarium. I would love to set up a paludarium but I dont want to lose out on all the water holding capability of the tank, which happens with a paludarium, so this seems like a great solution. If you are wondering what the heck a Paludarium is, just google it and look at the images, theres a bunch of great ideas to look at.
Some day im definately making one.

I don't believe so, but they are in the basement, so I probably wont hear them if they do
