Here is my big male bowfin, he has earned the name Jaws III because he is the first bowfin in 20+ years to really be a pet in an aquarium.

Jaws was my first bowfin, Oscars had nothing on him for personality.

Jaws III spends summers out in my gar river pond, and shows up at the surface all the time. Part of this in thanks to getting him to eat pellets.

Sorry about the scratch and small snails on the glass, not much control over that.

It is a 110 gallon. It used to be a tall deep tank, which I hated but the price was right. It split open one night. So I took off the front glass, cut it to size, and put it on the top. Now I have a wide shallow tank. It is 18 inches deep, 48 inches long, and 32 inches wide.

Its my biggest tank, so I need to build/buy a larger one if I want some of these fish in the fishroom next winter. Otherwise I have what I call the gar hot tub. Its an indoor pond of I guess 400 gallons. Two foot deep, five and a half feet long and four foot wide if I remember right. It got that name because my wife's friends always ask about the hot tub, she says its not all that hot, and you have to share it with the fish.

I prefer the aquariums inside, since its easier to watch the fish.
