I have been considering collect some native species, but to be honest I'm not really sure whats out there and where to look...
Up until now my focus when it comes to natives has been Elassoma species and different Killi species, but I am interested in branching out to fish from the area. The catch though is that right now I just have room for some smaller tanks.

I have a state fishing license and would get what every collection permit is needed...
I grew up in Livingston county and am now living in DuPage so anywhere between, that's not extremely far from I55 between Bloomington and Chicago would be ideal. Of course, I would consider other areas too.
Thanks!

Fatman, I'm in the water most weekends when water/weather is decent and I'm not all that far from you. I tend to stay South of the city for both diversity and stream conditions. If you don't mind a little drive, I plan on sampling a stream system not far from Wilmington next weekend (not this upcoming weekend). I'm afraid I have plans this weekend and can't make it.

If we meet up, I can give you some pointers and get you up to speed on the recent VHS regulations. Feel free to PM me so we can coordinate if you'd like.
