A dues increase is due, and in my opinion is essential. As Uland mentioned, adjust it for inflation at the very least. I know many are strapped for cash, but a homeless man panhandling can come up with $30 once a year. I may be luckier than some members, but live barely above poverty, and a once a year dues payment of $30 is pocket change. This argument is not valid. That once a month dinner out with your wife is more expensive. Well just go out eleven months a year.
If we have 500 members paying $20 per year we bring in $10,000. If a $10 increase caused us to lose 175 members we would still bring in the same revenue, and also save costs on printing AC. This loss of membership is not likely so I strongly agree with a dues increase. I think $30 per year is very reasonable.
If some members have a hard time coming up with the $30, allow them to work it off. Let them lick envelopes for membership. I would guess that some members if made known of hardship cases would gladly donate a few extra dollars to help someone out. If I recall correctly, I have personally paid for membership for at least two college students who were unable to squeeze out the extra cash.
Bottom line, a ten dollar increase will generate more money, sure a few people will quit, but the increased revenue will justify the loss.

I don't know where some of these numbers came from, but we are talking about an increase from US$20 to US$25. That is for US members. Canadian and overseas would increase according to the current exchange rates and mailing costs.

NANFA is financially healthy so any dues increase will discussed in detail by the board once AC is back on track.

Any dues increase discussion is a distraction from the real issue. All the money in the world can't help an organization taht is insufficiently staffed. We need volunteers!
Please consider volunteering for AC, a seat on the Board of Directors, we could still use some regional rep positions or any other way you might be able to help the organization!
