Could somebody give me some information about their spawning habits, like when they start and what to look for and what not.

Every year here at the river they seem to do a huge run to the dam and catching them becomes real easy. I'm going to try to catch as much as I can to put a very small dent in the population. Hopefully I'll be able to convince a few of my friends and family to join me.

I really like the way you think! But I can't answer your question. I hope somebody else can.

Carp spawn in the spring and early summer, tpyically in shallow water with lots of plant growth. They scatter the eggs about and the eggs stick to plants, substraight etc.

 Goldfish and Bubblenests? No...they scatter their eggs like carp do and show no parental care.

About carp:

they spawn like goldfish (scatters)...

About goldfish:

...they scatter their eggs like carp...

I sense a little circular reasoning going on here. One way or the other, though, get rid of them both (humanely)!

You forgot this one...

I refered to carp in my goldfish comment because prior to that I described how they bred.

That would make more sense. Never seen any goldfish with a bubblenest lol. I dont even know where I heard that.

Thanks for the info. They generally spawn around opening day of trout season here, so not many people catch them. Although every year a week before bass season they have a trout tournament and at least 3 people catch some 25+ inch carp and not so many trout, it's quite sad. It wouldn't be so bad if they were just in the river itself...but they're workin' up medium sized creeks here...bleh
