The Ohio State University Museum of Biodiversity is planning a mass fish sampling event for Saturday October 22nd in Circleville Ohio about 30 minutes south of Columbus. We will meet at the ODNR access on the west side of the Scioto River off of US 22. Directions can be found here Link. We will meet at 9am and will be there until approximately 3pm. The purpose of this event is to collect 5 individuals of every species possible to build up the collection of fish genetic material available at the OSU Museum of Biodiversity. Several state agencies and consulting companies have been invited to join us at this event allowing for the use and or demonstration of a wide variety of fish sampling equipment. Gear that will be used should include boat electrofishing, wade-able electrofishing, benthic trawls from a boat, and both large and small seines. There is no need to sign up for this event but we would appreciate knowing if you plan to come. You should bring chest waders, a sack lunch, and collecting gear if you want to use your own. For students and others that have no nets or other gear plenty will be available.

Unfortunately due to very high water we have to cancel this event... If you see this and know of someone else planning to come try to warn them not too... Hopefully we will get it rescheduled but we are going be facing cold weather soon so it may be next spring...
