I am looking for info on early stages of bowfin life cycle. I have seen several large bowfin in a local marsh but no young.

They are generally about 9 to 12 inches in just the first growing season. Habitat is exactly the same as the adults. Usually do not see them as they tend to be very nocturnal in nature and not quite as visible as breeding males or big females moving in to the shallows to spawn. Look for them at night and you will have better luck.

If you're looking for young, it's still early in Michigan. Wait a couple of months. Google "bowfin spawn" and you'll find out plenty.
