That guy's about a foot longer than the bull shark I caught several weeks ago! I let him go, but we ate the shark.

Maybe, but it was a pretty small shark ;)
We eat redfish far more often, anyway!

Yeah, I wasn't really prepared for a gar at the beach... it swam away briskly enough, I reckon there was no lasting harm done.
Actually, a bunch of parasitic isopods abandoned ship, so to speak, while it was out of the water, so there may have been some benefit for the fish...

in blue springs state park Volusia cty fl, I swam with a pod 6-8 ft long, rather I swam they just hovered, very intimidating

I guess it's brackish; it's pretty variable, too.

in blue springs state park Volusia cty fl, I swam with a pod 6-8 ft long, rather I swam they just hovered, very intimidating

That's awesome, I'd love to see something like that!
