The only Daphnia source I know of is Sachs Aquaculture (aquaculturestore.com) which has multiple species. (not sure which species the local pet store guy mentioned he used to order to feed his fish years ago he calls the White Water Flea is).

The web site Aquabid is a great source for all kinds of interesting small creatures useful for fish food. It is and auction site but they offer buy it now pricing so you do not have to wait for the auction to end. Look under FOODS, LIVE. Many of these animals would be excellent candidates for a high school biology lab or science projects. I have never had any problems with the vendors. Most of the vendors also offer advice on how to culture their animals.

A great book on this subject is the one below. The author gave a talk at one of our fish club meetings and said he tried all the methods described in the book. He also took all the photos.
