Maybe a sculpin isn't for you then. Just get a preserved specimen instead.

You always being so concerned about the temperature all times.....why not just get subtropical natives. That should be solved all of your problems.

would creek chubs work better for the 150? I will wait til there is a prickly sculpin since they can take up to 80. I'm concerned about temp because i'm using the second best source to tell me if it would work. The best source of info is trial and error. I just didn't want to cook my fish alive in a tank for them to live in.

I guess it is hard seeing a very cool fish and not being able to get it. an example is when i saw a goonch catfish at my lfs and it was $200, but i knew it would not work.

We all have seen a fish we just can't have. Anyway, you could put like 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 shiners in a 150. You should do that.

or pygmy sunfish. If I had a 150, I know what I'd do with it: breed dollar sunfish. Who wouldn't want to see first this and then a bunch of adorable babies?

I have four creek chubs in my 75 right now with some longear sunfish. They're only about 5 inches or so right now but they're pretty entertaining to watch. The only thing I would say is they would look better if you have a darker substrate. I have pool filter sand which is bright white and their color is a bit washed out. I can't wait until they get bigger though because they get to be more fun to watch the bigger they get. Also, they'll suck down any fish that they think they can fit into their mouth. I lost a two and a half inch bristlenose pleco to a four inch creek chub at one time.

Yep... and that is a big mouth... and they believe it is even bigger... so they eat all 'roommates' that fit... I had a trio in a smaller tank (atypical size, but about 40 gallons I think) with a bullhead. They all were about the same size so it worked out... only good roommates I ever found for a bullhead... and vice versa.

I've had a 4 inch pumpkinseed continuously bite a 2.5 inch fathead until it bit it's tail off. Don't underestimate the sunfish.

my only concern is Im going to get a logperch and 3 creek chubs, but what im concerned about is my 2.45 inch warmouth in my 45 gallon right now. also if the creek chubs are too big, i will put the warmouth and the logperch in my 20 until they are big enough to handle the chubs. I will try to get
3-4 inch chubs
4-5 inch logperch

I got my creek chubs on friday... lost one the next day since it went missing, then on Sunday one jumped from my tank with a lid.... 2/4 alive. i never knew they were very small at 3in compared to my bluegill. I know the bluegill can not eat them since it would of right away. I love the creek chubs. how fast do they grow?

They grow 3 inches or less a year. In a big aquarium they'll top out at about 10 inches or less. Where did you get them from? The one in my
<--- The one in my profile pic is about average size. :)

They're a lot of fun to watch. My latest video I took highlights them specifically. I posted it on the photography page. Hope you can get a couple more. They're fun to watch interact with each other.
