I was just wondering if you all reuse your kordon breather bags? Also just curious, if you flip the bag inside out and use it that way, it wouldn't hinder the air exchange would it? These bags are just amazing! Ed sent me some fish and I reused the bags he sent for transporting fish home from a collecting site and it worked great, didnt have to bring along my aerator.

I wouldn't flip them. I'm not exactly sure how they are coated.

Just rinse them out and let them air dry and you should be able to re-use. I've done so in the past successfully.

Yes, i reuse them. Twist the neck so its rolled up like a rope before tying a knot; that makes it much easier to untie without damaging the bag, and you dont need to pull the knot super tight bcuz the twisting seals it. Works for regular polyethylene fish bags too. Rinse used bags so they dont build up a slime that might impede gas exchange. Ive never tried inside-out. Large B-bags i tie knots in the bottom corners to make a nearly round bag, so small fish dont get caught in folded corners.

Aquabid if you are looking for a small quantity. Or someone here may be able to sell you some of their stock.

I have bags available. PM me if anyone is interested.

I have used the bags over as well, but I have found that after the first use, the bags tend to lose some of their elasticity. I depend on this stretchiness to help reseal pinhole leaks that might form from spine sticks. It really is amazing how these bags can "reseal" themselves if the hole is small enough and the pressure in the bag is low. I also just don't like the feel of the bag nearly as much after the first use. This is strictly personal preference and I have not read anywhere that the actual performance of the bag suffers.

I think that it's not a good idea to flip them inside out because I've found that the outside printing comes off easily and I don't know if it will be ok for your fish if your fish manages to dislodge some of the ink during transport or if it dissolves into the water.

Huh? If you flip them inside out, then the ink will come off into the water. If you use them properly, any ink that rubs off will end up in the box, not inside the bag.

Just the same, since gases can be transmitted through the bags, can ink, if it gets wet? I hope that they use non-toxic ink.

And yes, I reuse them. Not as a primary containment bag, for that, I always use new. Old bags may have leaks from untying them, or other leaks from handling. But for fish that have spines, requiring double-bagging, I will use a rinsed-out old bag as cushioning, with a new bag on the outside to provide a seal. I prefer not to double bag unless it's necessary, though, although I've never had a report of a dead fish from a recipient either way.

I want to ship sunfish. Old bag inside a new bag sounds good.

Has anyone tried some other cushioning? Maybe pot scrubbers?
