I was wondering if anyone has ever kept one of these in their aquariums before? what was your experience keeping one? Any pictures of one underwater/in aquarium? Do they behave the same as northern or coppernose bluegills?

The problem with these fish is that the paint washes off after a couple of hours.  It's bad for the other fish - they don't need to breathe that stuff, even if it IS acrylic.  And yeah, they behave just as badly as other bluegill.

I have noticed that not many websites talk about them and there are almost no pictures of them on the internet. Are they a subspecies? I did read that they have a small range.

I don't think they are currently widely recognized as a subspecies. Centrarchid should be able to answer your questions. He seems to have more experience with them than just about anybody.

I have pictures of them.  They are different at least with respect how they are cultured.  They keep in aquariums well but more prone to being bratty than most Northern and Coppernose bluegills.  I would like to have some for personal keeping as prior fish all work related.  Some pics of mine on this site.
