Looks like a great time! Those are some nice darters, alright. Jealous you can get your wife to go- enjoy it. Mine used to be the crick stompin' type, but not so much now... That's a good haul in that seine, what other fishes did you net?
I can't believe she was willing to go in 40° weather but I didn't ask questions. ..lol
We caught several different fish. I'm not very good with identifing shinners and other minnows. The big net haul was full of small stone rollers juvenile shiners and what I think was small dace. Here is a picture of one that I was not sure about. It was covered in little black specks (parasites?). We caught several like it.

(Black-spot parasites are a type of fluke, but they cannot spread fish-to-fish in an aquarium)
Minnows can be challenging to ID, espacially in a state like KY that has LOTS of them, but you'll get to know them all eventually. It's mostly a matter of familiarity, like learning to distinguish identical twins after you've been around them enough.
Where did your seine come from? Nice small mesh.

The one with black-spot might be a stoneroller, creek chub, or Nocomis chub.

I think he was a chub of some sort. I'll eventually get the hang of it.
Funny you should ask about the seine. It's a home made deal made out of a laundry hamper bag ..lol.
I needed a small net for myself and figured it would last a couple of trips. Shockingly it's lasted longer then I expected. I will say I can't take all the credit for building it. I had a couple of helpers.

I think that is the best looking snubnose out there. Not the most colorful, but there is something about it that I can't put my finger on. Very neat.
It's one of my favorites too. I haven't yet seen the Splendid Darter in person, but the KY Darter and the Eastrim Darter are really nice! I have a hard time getting snubnose darters to eat.

No spottails...it was a fast trip. Green sides, KY's and one Rainbow. I'm sure there are plenty of other species but it was cold and rainy. Once we caught the KY's we headed home.No Spottail Darters? I was trying to find my old photos, but I can't find them. I'm nearly certain I caught a Spottail Darter at that location.
