Hey everyone. Been doing aquariums for about 20 years, currently have a 29 and a 110. Going to be using the 110 for a native tank. I'm from Chicagoland so I'll be harvesting some of the local fish once it warms up around here. I grew up fishing and we used to catch all our minnows in a seine so I'm really familiar with the awesome varieties we have around here and I'm excited to get collecting.

120 low tech native planted - Blackstriped Topminnow, Central Stoneroller, Fathead minnow, Golden Shiner, Black chin shiner, Carmine Shiner, Emerald Shiner, Sand Shiner, Spotfin Shiner, Orangethroat darter, Johnny Darter, and Banded Darter.

Welcome,

I am a huge proponent of hyper local native keeping, so I think it is great that you are thinking about your local streams first. I am sure there are going to be a lot of resources here for you.

Hey, great! We have some great members in Illinois, and two from near Chicago are very active. So you should have a good chance of finding someone to hold the other end of the net. Uland is a big photo guy, and is always looking for someone to drag a net with him, as long as you are willing to allow some photo tank time after the seining. Good luck.

Welcome! We really do have some active members your way. Can't wait to hear how your 110 pans out.

Welcome! With a 110 you should be able to have a plethora of local species.
