Hi all,

I am looking for help identifying some juvenile sunfish that we captured in our nets this past summer. They're likely bluegill or pumpkinseed (some attached photos will also have black crappie and largemouth bass). These photos were taken in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, early August.

Thank you in advance.

I'm away from my ID guides right now, but Peterson's Field Guide to Fishes of North America (I may be slightly off on the title) has a guide to young-of-year sunfishes that may be useful to you.

They look like bluegill to me.

Mostly Bluegill I do see a few pumpkinseeds in there and as you said largemouth and black crappie. Tiny sunfish are hard, you just have to get a good feel for them by seeing a lot of them at every size possible.

I'm thinking P-seed on most of them due to pigmentation of operculum and width of vertical bands on body.
