I counted 38 lateral scales, anyone out there think this may be a Lake Chubsucker?

I also caught Sheepshead Minnows there. And in Lake Waccamaw caught Swamp Darters, Tadpole Madtoms, Coastal Shiners and a few Waccamaw Killifish and Waccamaw Silversides.
I couldn't find a Mud Sunfish. I tried so many spots that I figured if I ever get one, it will be by accident like you said. I got Redfin Pickerel, E. Creek Chubsuckers, E. Mosquitofish, Pumkinseed, Pirate Perch, Blackbanded Sunfish, Banded Pygmy Sunfish, Bluegill, and Bluespotted Sunfish in the canals around Lake Waccamaw, as well as tons of E. Mudminnows. It was a great trip.

Golden Topminnows too in abundance around Waccamaw.

Was the taillight shiner from the canal around Lake Waccamaw? That's the only spot in NC I've ever seen them (about 10+ yrs ago). The other spot was in Bennettsville SC, more like 20 yrs ago. They seem to be quite delicate and get stressed easily.
