I wanted to return to the Dan River and catch the species I missed last month. I joined up with a friend and we collected mainly in the Mayo River, Paw Paw Creek and Jacob's Creek. We caught Roanoke, Glassy and Fantail Darters, Central Stonerollers, Mtn. Redbelly Daces, Redlip and Crescent Shiners along with other unknowns, Madtoms, various Suckers, and a few Bluehead or Bull Chubs.

I see satinfin shiners, rosefin shiners (slender w/ tiny anterior scales), swallowtail shiner, MRB dace, glassy darter (aren't they neat?), Roanoke hogsucker (#9).
The "14 dorsal rays" redhorse ... dunno, but likely notchlip, v-lip, or golden (based on range). Not sure about #11 shiner - small crescent maybe? or pale redlip?

The Glassy Darters are pretty neat. I think the Redhorse may be a V-Lip. I counted 44 lateral scales, and it appears to me to have a concave dorsal fin which V-Lips have according to my Peterson. I think V-Lips are pretty common around there according to the Delorme.
