What is this (LFS)?

I saw this at my LFS. They think it was caught from a local lake.

That is a genuine Common Carp, Cyprinus carpio.

Something doesn't look right to me about this, on my phone so maybe I just can't see it very well. Looks like the anal fin is too far back and the dorsal too long, head oddly small... maybe it is just a diformed carp but if I took a wild guess I would say it is one of those Chinese high fin suckers.

I thought Chinese high fin suckers as well. It is difficult to tell from the photo, but it looks like a fish we used to call a "black shark" in the aquarium trade.  Or at least something similar.  Genus Labeo.  I think there are more species imported now, but I would venture that it is this guy:  Labeo chrysophekadion. 

 

They are very dark when young and fade as they get larger.  They get too large for most home aquariums. 

Also, not a North American Native.  They come from southeast Asia.

I think MichiJim got it right: Back Sharkminnow.  This fish appears to have barbels at the tip of the snout (in addition to the ones at the corners of the mouth).  Common carp barbels are farther back, and Catostomidae suckers like Chinese highfin sucker don't have any.

Looks like a black sharkminnow to me.

I'll take Asian exotics for 500 Alex! 

 

What is a black sharkminnow?
