In numerous threads I have seen references to specific numbers for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, Ph, and hardness in members tanks.  I was wondering what types and brands of test you all prefer and where it can be found?

Also, if you have any recommendations for tests or brands to avoid that would be helpful.  Thanks.

I use a Hach ph/ conductivity pen type tester. Taylor test kits for everything else. These are industrial stuff like I use at work to test boiler water. You don't need to spend the bucks for this kind of kits, most pet shops carry kits or test strips that will do what you need. API makes a fairly easy to use freshwater test kit.

That's what I use for even my bigger aquaculture systems. I detest calibrating meters.
