rainbow trout.  I do know the triploids other than having chromosome that are there times the haploid number (3N vs. 2N),  have fewer and larger red blood cells. I also know there is evidence that due to fewer red blood cells, triploid rainbow trout have a harder time in marginal hypoxic water conditions than their diploid counterparts.

Just want to find an article that concisely and simply explains this. Found some great research on the Internet on lower survival rates of triploids planted in lakes and ponds with the exceptions of some streams, but not finding an actual article on the physiological differences.

I know this isn't exactly a discussion regarding native fish in their native habitats, but I know that if anyone can, the fellow fish geeks here should be able to find it.  :D/

Thanks!
