I realize there has been a delay on this and we went over the deadline, and I apologize for that.  However, I wanted to say that we had some truly worthy entries for this grant.  Below were the candidates:

Freshwater's Illustrated

The Nature Conservancy of Kentucky

Sea Run Brook Trout Coalition

Desert Fish Habitat Partnership

Conservation Fisheries Inc

While all are worthy of a NANFA sponsorship/grant, we applied a point based system for different categories for each of these. We also had to consider that CFI won the grant last year and NANFA wants to be involved with as many like-minded organizations as we can.

After tallying the points, the winner of the 2016 John Bondhus Conservation Grant is the Desert Fish Habitat Partnership! To get more information about DFHP, please visit: http://www.desertfhp.org/

Thanks to Matt Kneply for nominating them and thanks to the other members who nominated an organization. I hope to have more entries next year. I was a little disappointed in the number of entries. This is your (members) opportunity for NANFA to be involved with local organizations that you care about.

I will be in contact with DFHP soon to arrange the details of the award. Again for transparency, here's the score sheet we used to grade the organizations.

Great choice and looks like you couldn't have made a bad one.

Yeah! Like Mike said above, it wouldn't have been possible to make a bad choice from that group. Thanks to all involved in the award process! And if you aren't familiar with DFHP, check out the link above. I think you'll be impressed.

Based on a recent conversation, I can't say that CFI supports the goals of NANFA.  Therefore, good choice, I says!

I can see how desert fishes was the right choice to win by preserving endangered species. (easilly beating my suggestion of an endangered population of a wide spread species).

It seems they helped with the recovery of the Virgin River Chub... I can see why that one was declining from the name alone. :)

Bryce and his snubby porn helped 'em out, too. (eye roll smiley emoticon-thingy here)
