Minnow ID help

Hi:  This minnow is really abundant in the lower reaches of a West Michigan River in the summer.  It is approximately 3-4 inches in length.   Can you help me ID it please?   Thanks!   Kevin

Looks like either common shiner or striped shiner.

Hi Gerald:  Thank you for the reply.    We do have a lot of common shiners; these seemed like something different as they were more tubular and abundant in a different part of the river in a more sandy habitat.  Thanks so much for the reply!  Kevin

Young ones are not as deep-bodied as adults.
