So I am pretty new to anything to do with fish keeping so o have a lot of questions. One that has been on my mind is I have a bunch of geodes that I have collected and was wondering if they would be suitable for an aquarium. Obviously they would need to be cleaned but will they have negative effect on the water quality.

NOT a geology expert here, but my 2C would be that the crystal inside would be inert and have little to no effect on the water parameters. If anything, the outer-layer of the rock may leach very small amounts of minerals that would do little more to your tank--or tank inhabitants--than make the water a little bit harder aka, "mineral rich".
Having never added a geode to a tank before, I would say that I would be comfortable trying it. You could try a few in a smaller tank with fish you wouldn't be afraid to lose should something go wrong. Hope it works for you. Seems like it would be a neat looking tank.

I use Geodes from KY all the time in my aquariums. No issues.

When i first set up aquariums i had a neat specimen rock with a copper vein running through it.
I asked my pet shop guy why my newly bought mega snails had died pronto.

These geodes all came from Kentucky. Cumberland to be exact. Sounds like I shouldn't have any issues. I just think they will look different while still being natural. Mostly all white crystals inside but the ones I've messed with cleaned up real nice. I'll definitely post some pics when i get it together.

Geodes shouldn't cause any problem since most are quartz. However, there ARE other types of geodes of different minerals, softer crystalline minerals that might have an effect on the water chemistry and critters. However, if your geode is quartz, you should be fine. I have put quartz in tanks for many years.
