Order your buddy's book. http://www.ohiobiolo.../pub_highlight/

I am excited. Brian is one of the best parts of NANFA, linking pro's to laymen.

Got my copy in the mail today and have to say it is one of the best native fish books I have purchased to date and honestly a steal at the listed price. It has everything you could possibly need to know about Ohio native fishes in a concise, easy to read format along with top notch photos. Of course, many of the species are in surrounding states too so it is an excellent resource even for areas outside of Ohio such as here in Kentucky where I'm from and basically anywhere east of Mississippi. Could not recommend it any higher. Great job Brian!

I fully agree. Buy it. I like the fact that he gives "Best sites". That is pretty awesome for guys like us. Thanks Brian.

So I have to admit - when I read Jason's evaluation I thought that it was likely a bit of a stretch and probably hyperbole.  I received my copy today and after a quick review I will agree that it is definitely impressive.  The pictures, the information, the attention to details, the cover art, etc. is all of excellent quality.  The layout could (and should) be used to develop field guides for other regions.  I am not from Ohio and don't have any plans to travel to Ohio soon, however I can already tell that this will be a useful book for me.  Hopefully the book will go to a 2nd printing soon so many more people can enjoy this book!

So tardy to this party but just ordered one from the expected second printing.  Excited to get it!  Yay for tax returns and unexpected credits on one's paypal account!

I found the 2014 edition of the book on EBay. I wonder how much difference there is between this new edition and the 14' edition?

There is not. Maybe Trautman's book was reprinted in 2014?

You're right. I looked again and it looks almost alike Brian's, but it's by Daniel L. Rice and Gary Meszaros. The cover looks extremely similar to that of Brian's cover.

Just got mine in the mail.  The glowing reviews don't do it justice.  This book is fantastic.   Great work, gents!
